Italian bathroom design as a distinct genre of design
Italian factories were among the first in Europe to design the bathroom not as a technical space, but as a fully fledged living interior—with solid wood furniture, brass fittings and the same stylistic logic as the living room or bedroom. Through Mebeltour, you gain access to factory prices on bathroom furniture and sanitary ware directly from the manufacturer, without dealer mark-ups.
Classic: Devon&Devon
Devon&Devon is a Florentine brand that has been operating since 1989. Its style draws on several eras at once—Victorian classicism, Neoclassicism and Art Deco—all adapted to contemporary engineering standards. The main production is based in Tuscany, while some collections are made in England, reflected in the brand’s distinctly British name. Devon&Devon is a natural choice for bathrooms in classic or neoclassical homes.
Contemporary: Cerasa
Cerasa has been on the market since 1983, with its headquarters in Godega di Sant’Urbano, at the heart of Italy’s north-eastern furniture cluster. Unlike Devon&Devon, Cerasa works with a modular, contemporary aesthetic: streamlined vanity units, integrated lighting, and a focus on storage and ergonomics—an excellent choice for a contemporary or minimalist bathroom.
Oasis: 1908, and the glass kitchens have only now caught up with
The history of Oasis began in 1908, when Floriano Quaia opened a small furniture workshop, “Quaia Arredamenti,” in Friuli. In 1984, already operating as Oasis Group, the company added bathroom furniture to its collections—and this very category became the brand’s signature. Today, Oasis operates in more than 25 countries, including Russia, maintaining a distinctive style at the intersection of two languages: rigorous contemporary design with clean geometry, and early 20th-century “salle de bain” Art Deco with glossy lacquers, brass, bronze and marble countertops.
Oasis has been using one façade detail for many years: tinted glass with a vertical fluted texture — “cannettato” (vetro cannettato), an effect visually reminiscent of tightly arranged reeds and popular in Italian design from the 1930s to the 1950s. At Oasis, this glass has long been used for cabinet doors and bathroom vanity fronts (see photo). The kitchen industry has only now begun discussing fluted glass fronts as a “new trend for 2024–2025”, although in bathroom furniture the same detail had already been common practice around ten years ago.
Bathroom fittings: Gessi
Gessi was founded in 1992 by Umberto Gessi as a challenge to the established bathroom fittings market; today, the entire range is manufactured at the factory in Serravalle Sesia (Piedmont). A comprehensive overview of the manufacturing process, the Private Wellness concept, Incastri concealed installation, and the Hi-Fi and Haute Culture collections is available in the article Gessi: Water Engineering and Concealed Installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can bathroom furniture be made to custom dimensions?
Yes, all three factories offer custom dimensions for bedside tables and storage systems—this is a standard option, not a special order.
How can bathroom furniture and sanitary ware from different brands be combined?
Mebeltour selects a palette of finishes (brass, chrome, blackened metal, wood tones) so that the furniture and bathroom fittings read as a unified project, even when they come from different manufacturers.
What is the production lead time for bathroom furniture?
On average, 3–5 weeks depending on the brand and configuration.
