Q: Is an appointment required to visit Milan showrooms?

Q: When is the best time to visit Milan showrooms?

Optimal time: Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Mondays, most showrooms open from 3:00 p.m. April is Salone del Mobile; showrooms have extended hours, but the streets are crowded.

Palazzo Molteni&C — flagship 2025

Via Manzoni 9. Seven floors in a historic 19th-century palazzo. Design by Vincent Van Duysen. The complete Molteni&C and Dada display: from the living room to the kitchen. Opened in 2025 — one of the key destinations not only on the street, but in all of Milan.

Poltrona Frau (Via Manzoni 30) — 800 m², rating 4.8★. The brand’s largest flagship in the world. Armani Casa (Via Manzoni 31) — Giorgio Armani’s concept in the interior, Mon–Sat 10–19:30.

Gessi Milano (Via Manzoni 16/A) — in a former cinema hall: painted vaults, a vintage Benelli motorcycle as an art object, the Inciso by David Rockwell collection. All taps are connected — water flows.

Via Durini — the modern design district

In a single block — B&B Italia, Cassina, Edra, Porro, Arclinea, Dolce & Gabbana Casa, Bugatti Home, Trussardi Casa, Versace Home, Louis Poulsen. Seventeen flagships along one 400-metre pedestrian route. Such a concentration exists nowhere else in the world.

Edra — a contrast between the 17th and 21st centuries

The Edra showroom is one of Milan’s most unexpected addresses. Entrance through a colonnaded courtyard with cobblestones and arches of a 17th-century palazzo. Inside: Baroque painted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling mirrored panels, 19th-century terrazzo. Against this backdrop — Edra’s experimental sculptural sofas, soft objects by Ludovico Mastaglia.

Salvioni at Via Durini 3 — the street’s best multi-brand showroom: Poliform, Minotti, Flexform, Baxter under one roof. Monday — from 15:00.

Cassina at Via Durini 16 — an archive of Italian design: Le Corbusier LC2, Charlotte Perriand, Vico Magistretti. Here, they showcase the realised history of furniture, not simply current collections.

Brera — a bohemian district with 40+ showrooms

Brera is not a street, but a district. More than forty showrooms in a maze of narrow streets around the Pinacoteca di Brera. Everything is here: from experimental Edra to classic Giorgetti, from Danish Hay to Venetian Rubelli. And nearby — Triennale Design Museum, the world’s only permanent museum of industrial design.

In Brera, showrooms operate differently — without shop windows or price tags in the window. You simply open a heavy door and find yourself inside. The interior concept matters more here than any specific product. It is precisely here, unlike on Via Durini, that you can spend an hour in a single space.

Triennale Design Museum

Triennale di Milano — not just a museum, but a permanent centre of Italian design. The permanent collection covers the entire 20th century: Joe Colombo, Enzo Mari, Achille Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti. Next door is a shop with Milan’s finest selection of design books and objects.

Galleria, Duomo and Porta Nuova — Milan beyond the showrooms

Between the showrooms lies the city itself. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II — the world’s first shopping centre, built in 1877. The Duomo — 600 years of construction. Porta Nuova — 21st-century skyscrapers two blocks from Via Manzoni. All of this is part of the route.

Galleria — the starting point

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is Milan’s most beautiful starting point for any itinerary. A glass dome, mosaic floors, Prada shops (open here since 1913), Louis Vuitton, Gucci. Stamp your right foot on the bull’s neck in the floor — it brings good luck in business.

Porta Nuova — the district of the 21st century

Five minutes from Via Manzoni — Porta Nuova: the skyscrapers of UniCredit Tower, Bosco Verticale (Stefano Boeri’s tree-house), Piazza Gae Aulenti. This is Milan after 2010 — architecture being built today.

A new showroom cluster has formed around Porta Nuova: Repubblica, Isola. Some brands have moved their flagship stores here — away from tourist crowds and closer to the business district.

Salone del Mobile — the world’s leading trade fair

Every April, Milan hosts Salone del Mobile — the world’s largest furniture and design exhibition. 300 000 visitors in 6 days, 2 500 exhibitors at Fiera Milano in Rho. Alongside it — Fuorisalone: 1 200 events across the city itself, when every showroom becomes an exhibition space.

April is a special season

During Salone del Mobile, Milan’s showrooms extend their opening hours — until 21–22, and special spaces that are inaccessible during the rest of the year open to visitors. Many factories present their new collections here, several months before they go on sale.

Start: Palazzo Molteni&C (Via Manzoni 9). Through Poltrona Frau and Armani Casa — down Manzoni to Via Durini. Cassina, Edra, B&B Italia, Versace Home. 3 hours, ~14 addresses. Best days: Tue–Fri from 10 am.

Quadrilatero → Brera

Start: Hermès Maison (Via Montenapoleone). Via della Spiga — to Brera. Baxter, Gianfranco Ferré, Spotti, Triennale. 2.5 hours, ~12 addresses. Finish with lunch in Brera.

Galleria → Manzoni → Gessi

Start: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Along Via Manzoni — Gessi Milano (cinema hall), Lema, Meridiani. Finish at Palazzo Molteni. 2 hours, ~8 addresses. Ideal for the first day.
